The ESSENTIAL Ingredients Behind Your Favorite Foot & Skate Spray

Figure skaters everywhere know that sweaty, post-practice smells aren’t just for hockey players. That’s why we created our Super Spray: so that skaters could have a safe, non-toxic way to both deodorize and disinfect their boots after a long day on the ice.

When things get really sweaty, it’s easy to desperately turn to chemicals in order to save your feet and skates from odor build up. But, skates are something your feet live in almost every day and many boot models are made from materials that are sensitive to what products you use on them. Many chemical-laden products are actually the culprit to the early break down of boots, and have been found to cut their life almost in half. In other words, something you’re using to help keep your boots clean can actually be hurting them!

With all of this in mind, there are a lot of benefits to turning to natural products for your skate-care needs. We’re proud that our Super Spray is made from only three ingredients: tea tree oil, peppermint oil, and witch hazel. These natural, plant-based essential oils and extracts have been used for thousands of years for beauty, healing, and wellness purposes. Below, you can find out more about the ingredients you use every day, and specifically why they’re good for your feet and skates.

Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is made from the bark of the Witch Hazel plant (occasionally called Winterbloom), which can be found throughout North America, Japan, and China. Typically used as a facial toner and topical cure for acne and irritated skin, it also has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

For skates and socks:

Witch Hazel has a smooth, light scent, and provides the perfect non-toxic vehicle for the other oils to fight odor and bacteria.

For your feet:

The anti-inflammatory properties of witch hazel can serve to soothe and nourish cramped, hard-working feet. Witch Hazel also has been proven to be beneficial to dry, irritated skin, so it can provide some nourishing relief to blisters and calluses.

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint Oil is extracted from the blooms of the Peppermint plant. Indigenous to southern Europe, use if this herb for medicinal purposes dates back to the ancient Egyptians.

For skates and socks:

Peppermint Oil provides a fresh, clean scent. It also is both antibacterial and antifungal, meaning that the peppermint oil doesn’t just cover up the smell, it also fights bacteria to destroy the root cause of stinky skates. Keeping your boots bacteria and fungus free can also help prolong the life of your skates.
